Reiki and Attunements

An interesting topic came up this week. Reiki and Attunements. When one becomes a student of Reiki the Reiki Master passes an Attunement, usually three to the student done in levels usually with 30 days in between to allow the body to adjust to the energy. Level 3 is a choice as it takes the student to the Master level and allows them to teach Reiki and give attunements to others. Level 2 is the practitioner level in which one can practice giving Reiki to others, pets, and plants. 

Okay, that’s the basics. So the question was brought up can one have more than one attunement to the same level? My answer is “yes”, however it is a personal choice. I have a friend who is a Master in England and has been trained in the traditional methods. She teaches her students that one should have attunements throughout one’s life because they are a blessing from the Master. I have experienced a re-attunement to the Master Level and it has made my abilities stronger. Again it’s a personal choice so there is no real right or wrong answer.

Next ~ Online Master vs In-person Master?

Again depends. A traditional view it should always be in person. 

Now here is my two cents. I’ve gotten attuned via both. Online I found a great master and through online I also found another amazing master for some other energy classes who has been a longtime friend ever since. Now it can go the other way and you can get bad online teachers. I’ve had one of those too. I suggest asking the online Master plenty of questions and make sure there is a follow up session where you can ask questions about what you may have seen, heard or felt during the attunement and the process. You can ask if they do distance Reiki sessions so you could book one to see what it would be like.

In-person Master same advice. Maybe make a session with him or her to sample the person’s Reiki session. Then maybe ask if you can sit in on a class. 

Always educate yourself. Start reading about Reiki; books and the Reiki Magazine. Now the Reiki Magazine by William Lee Rand is put out by a traditionalist, but it has some amazing articles and how to begin Reiki, not just to your clients, but making it part of your life and using it in your daily routines.

I always hand out cards and tell people to contact me with questions if they have any. I will always do my best to answer or point you in the right direction.
